about

Valley Theory was my first attempt at a full band EP. After moving to Ottawa in the summer of 2008, I embarked on a journey with two friends from Montreal and two from Ottawa. Owen Edwards (guitar) and Landon Kotchapaw (bass) were old camp kids who lived one floor above me on James Street in Centretown/Ottawa, while Paul Godin (guitar) and Rehuel Ernest (drums) were great old friends who lived in Montreal. Swapping cities every other week, we practiced these and a few other tunes for about 6 straight months and then played one of the most killer album release shows at Zaphods that you've ever heard. We recorded this 5-tracker in less than 48 hours with our pal Dean so that we would actually have something to sell! It's stood the test of time, and it's sleek and to the point. Graven with guts (and a killer cover art design by Meredith Luce).
